Cricket World Cup, the international cricket championship held at a gap of four years, which is the main event in one-day cricket and is one of the most watched sports competitions in the world.
  1. In 1975, the first Cricket World Cup was fought in England as a series of one-day matches of 60 overs per match. 
  2. It was held for the first time in 1987, outside of England, India, and Pakistan. 
  3. The number of over-overs in the 1987 competition also decreased to 50.
  4.  In 2007 Australia became the first team to win three consecutive World Cup tournaments.
